GLOSSIER - is it really worth the 'hype'?

Glossier has been alllllllll over my instagram for at least the past 2 years and I feel so behind on the band wagon but I finally got round to doing an order! I was defiantly sold this through instagram and its branding - I've been sucked into this baby pink, gen z hole but it was only a matter of time!

MANGO BALM DOTCOM - £15

Honestly, this smells INCREDIBLE, theres no denying it. I am a huge fan of and will forever love the limited edition honey vaseline, I refuse to leave the house without it - you know when you feel your pockets for your phone and its not there and your heart skips a beat? Thats me with vaseline. It costs £3.95 off ebay and it worth every penny. So I don't know what went through my head when I thought it was okay to spend £15 on a lip balm but here I am, and it does smell amazing! It has a slight corally undertone that looks so nice on my lips but I don't feel like my lips are any more hydrated or softer than usual. Aswell as this, the bottle is so much smaller than I imagined (the same with all the products actually) so I feel like I'm using it sparingly because it seems like its going to run out so quick!

MILKY JELLY CLEANSER - £15

This is a conditioning face wash, it's got a really thick 'goopey' (is that a word?!) texture to it, and feels really nice on the skin, however, I really am unsure about this! The texture almost feels too soft that it doesn't feel like its getting deep enough into my pores to really cleanse them and I've found myself using it twice to be able to feel like my face is clean enough.

The website claims its "cleansing power comes from the same gentle cleaning agents found in contact lens solution, so it’s tough on impurities and still safe to use on your eyes", which is interesting and a weird way to sell a product.

I'm not overly sure what the scent is, I think its meant to be rosewater but it really doesn't smell great, its quite a familiar, old smell which isn't what I want when using a face wash I want to feel and smell fresh. However, one good thing from the product is after using it only a few times I found it had really reduced the size and visibility of pores and blackheads on my nose which is something I've really wanted to tackle for a while so if it continues to keep my skin and pores looking smaller and fresher then a big part of me would be willing to re buy!

PRIMING MOISTURISER - £18

I wasn't planning on buying this however If I bought The Skincare Set of all 3 products it saved me £8, meaning it was basically free, and I can't say no to a bargain! I've been using this only in the mornings and I do see a difference in how my make up holds out throughout the day! Usually my T-zone gets so oily but I've noticed when I've used this it hasn't which I'm really impressed with! Aswell as this you only do need a little bit so I'm hoping it will last me a long time!

OVERALL One thing especially that I didn't like about the brand s the amount of packaging used!!!! As a Generation Z orientated brand, hats off to them they've sold and branded themselves so well that nearly everyone I know has bought from them but I think theres one thing they aren't thinking about; when Gen Z more than any other generation are vegan and so conscious of the planet - why are glossier using so much packaging?!

The box the order came in isn't made from recycled cardboard, theres then paper inside of this, the little pink pouch, the stickers and sample cards and then on top of that the balm dotcom also came in its own little box which is completely unnecessary! The pink pouch, I understand is recyclable and from the outside looking in, this concept seems like an innovative idea that eliminates waste, however for repeat purchasers, what need do they have for 10 pink pouches? I'd love to see glossier offer an option at checkout to have none of the added extra packaging like this.

The actual products I feel have been overhyped massively, especially for the price they cost!! And thinking to myself - would I use them if they were in plain packaging? probably not.
