Neon is having a moment.
Towards the end of last year I started to see a lot of neon creeping onto my Instagram feeds and into shops. To start with, I was a bit ehhh, having flashbacks from the fluorescent pink top I used to own in 2010.
I’m not sure what it is, but over the past couple of weeks, its grown on me, I’m thinking I like this new take on neon. Maybe I’m bored of loungewear and I’m ready for spring and the bright colours have me feeling optimistic and raring for summer. Even though we're still in the depths of winter, this trend is making me feel warm and excited.
Emma Zoey Roche
Emma has styles these two different neon pieces in such dreamy ways. I love the layering with the white jumper/coat to break up the bold pieces and add a neutral base.
Four Items I'd buy and style...
1. NEON PINK RIB ROLL NECK LONG SLEEVE TOP
£10.00
I love this casual styling. I'd maybe swap the turtle neck for a more chunkier jumper in the same colour to keep warmer in the winter without having to take a coat out with me, But I think paired with jeans this looks so casual and defiantly a look I'd happily wear to uni or a casual day shopping.
2. NEON LIME HIGH NECK JERSEY LONG SLEEVE BODYSUIT
£12.00
I would style this underneath an oversized black sweatshirt dress with chunky boots to add a pop of colour into a neutral outfit, in such an affordable way.
3. PRETTYLITTLETHING NEON GREEN LOGO SOCKS
£5.00
Another online store pick from PLT, these neon socks come in green, orange and pink and are the perfect way to slowly incorporate the trend into your everyday wardrobe, especially if you aren't feeling confident enough to rock a bigger garment like a dress, which is quite a statement - this is a great way to be on trend this season.
4. Marc Jacobs Hip Shot belt bag, £330
Last up is this Marc Jacobs fluorescent Hip Shot or Snapshot bag. This combines both huge trends this season - belt bags with neon colours. Again, a great statement piece to brighten a neutral outfit, or combined with another statement piece for contrast.
